The Ballad of the Carbon Footprints Contributed by John Baker
If you wan'na save the planet, then it should be clear to you,
That, 'Reduce your Carbon Footprint', is what you've got to do.
But, 'A Vegan on a Bicycle' is not my cup of tea;
I would prefer, 'Make Love not War', and surely you'll agree:
'Make Love not War', sounds much more fun to me.
For bombs, except for nuclear, work by cumbustion too.
Like coal, like food, they burn in air, producing CO2.
The fires they start will then join in, producing even more.
If you want a giant carbon footprint, you should go and start a war.
Those hippies were dead right then, all those years ago.
They got a massive bollocking; the authoriites said 'No, No'.
They crucified O'Leary; drove Donovan away;
But carbon footprints did get less, the swinging London way.
I have a niggling feeling, the authourities have now figured this out.
For Donovan did re-emerge at Hove Town Hall one night.
Research has been allowed to start on psychedelic states,
And O'Leary now, is being hailed, as their 'unwitting advocate'. 'Unwitting'? My arse!
So maybe, just maybe; faced:- with the greenhouse gas today,
with the expected end of civilisation, when the greenhouse runs away,
with the example of planet Venus, which has already gone that way;
the authorities have changed their minds, and, 'Make Love not War' , is now, OK!
